Our recent Boy Scout campout at Delavan Lake, WI, was an incredible experience packed with adventure, learning, and camaraderie. The scouts set out on a weekend full of fishing, boating, and tubing, all while enjoying the beautiful natural surroundings of Delavan Lake.
Upon arrival, the scouts pitched their tents near the lake, quickly setting up our campsite. The boys wasted no time getting out on the water, where they spent the afternoon boating and tubing, taking in the scenic views, and enjoying the thrill of the ride.
The highlight of the trip was undoubtedly the fishing. The scouts took to the lake with their rods and reels, eager to test their skills. Their patience paid off as they caught a variety of fish, each scout reeling in their catch with pride. The experience didn’t stop there—after catching the fish, the boys learned how to fillet them, a skill that many had never tried before. With guidance, they prepared the fish for dinner, bringing their hard-earned catch back to the campsite.
As the sun set, the scouts gathered around the campfire to cook the fish they had caught earlier in the day. It was a true field-to-table experience, and the satisfaction of eating a meal they had provided for themselves was evident on each of their faces. The meal was simple but delicious, and the sense of accomplishment was palpable.
The campout was not just about fishing; it was an opportunity for the scouts to bond, learn valuable outdoor skills, and enjoy the beauty of nature. The boys demonstrated teamwork, resilience, and enthusiasm throughout the trip, making it a memorable experience for all involved.
In addition to fishing, boating, and tubing, the scouts also spent time exploring the surrounding area, enjoying hikes, and participating in campfire stories and songs. The trip concluded with a reflective moment, where each scout shared their favorite part of the campout, many citing the thrill of catching, cooking, and eating their own fish.
Overall, the fishing campout at Delavan Lake was a resounding success. The scouts left with new skills, stronger friendships, and unforgettable memories of a weekend well spent in the great outdoors.
