Summer Packing

  • Simple is good · Do not over pack

    Pack for the trip you are going on, if it's in the woods, in a cabin, or  summer camp, count just what you need for the trip, and then leave some behind!

  • Tent

    2-man fits one and stuff...Tents are heavy

  • Sleeping bag

    40° lightweight is more than enough. In very warm weather, a light fleece will do

  • Bedroll

    Lightweight foam pad, small air mattress or cot, small pillow

  • Flashlight

    Small flashlight or headlamp

  • Mess Kit

    Bowl, fork/spork, cup

  • Pocket knife

    Blade length 4 in. or less, only folding
    blades allowed

  • Hiking Boots

    or hiking shoes

  • Clothing

    2 Pair socks (weekend)



    A wicking fabric will keep you drier than jeans

    Fleece pullover

    Long sleeve shirt

    Coat, rain coat or poncho

  • Necessities

    Bug Spray


Winter Packing


Sleeping bag

-30° heavyweight is more than enough. For extra warmth, get a fleece liner.


Marino wool socks are the warmest with a thin sock liner

Thermal underwear
